First Year
Daily Living
- Eat Local. Every ingredient in every meal must come from within a 100 mile radius of our home.
- We can eat what is left of the non-local ingredients in our pantry until they run out.
Social Life
- When attending parties/social events we will do our best to eat in advance (or afterward). If we must eat at the event, we will exercise our judgment to select unprocessed foods, closest to their natural state.
- Our 6 year old daughter, Katerina, when attending birthday parties (or sleepovers at her grandparents’ house), will exercise her judgment to make the best choice available to her.
- On birthdays we will have the choice of celebrating with our favorite cake.
On the Road
- When traveling to another city, we will make an effort to buy locally or find restaurants that serve local food if available.
- We will allow ourselves to bring home local food/products from within 100 miles of where we visit.
Exceptions
- Katerina will have the option to continue eating oatmeal during breakfast. We will do our best to find a local alternative, if available.
